BOTB has been running car competitions longer than any other UK operator. Founded in 1999, originally in airports and now fully online, they're also structurally different from every other site we track: their flagship product — Spot the Ball — is a skill competition, not a random draw. That distinction matters legally, practically, and for how you evaluate your chances.
How Spot the Ball works
A photograph is taken of a sporting scene with the ball digitally removed. You mark where you think the centre of the ball should be. An independent panel of professional sporting experts determines the "true" position of the ball — in the presence of an independent lawyer, with the judging recorded and published. The entry closest to that position wins.
There's no luck in the Spot the Ball result. There's skill, judgment, and an independent verification process (PromoVeritas, the UK's leading promotional verification service) certifying every result. That's a meaningful difference from a random number generator.
Draws run Monday–Sunday with results announced Tuesday. The per-person limit is 75 entries per week — a ceiling that limits both spending and odds.
Other competition types: BOTB also runs random draws for house and lifestyle prizes, with a 1,000-ticket cap per competition, results on Thursdays.
Ticket prices: 10p–£6 depending on competition; many in the 40p–90p range.
Ownership and corporate structure
BOTB relisted on AIM in October 2025 as Winvia Entertainment PLC (ticker: WVIA), raising £40m at an opening market cap of ~£205m. Winvia also acquired Click Competitions in April 2025 and is in the process of acquiring Rev Comps (£11.8m deal, expected completion July 2026). Once complete, three of the eight sites we track will share a parent.
William Hindmarch, who founded BOTB in 1999, stepped down as CEO following the merger. A new CEO search was underway at our last research update. Teddy Sagi — a significant investor in the games and tech sector — is a major shareholder and was the driving force behind the Winvia merger and relisting.

Honest watch points
No free entry for Spot the Ball. The flagship competition is exempt from the free entry requirement because it's a skill competition. Free postal entry (up to 600 per competition) applies to BOTB's random draw competitions only — not the one most people enter. See our free entry guide for the mechanics.
Skill adds a subjective element. Your odds depend partly on how well you read the ball's position. Two people spending the same amount can have very different probabilities of winning. If you want pure fixed-odds transparency, BOTB isn't the right comparison point.
Ticket sold counts aren't always shown. Some Trustpilot reviewers note that BOTB doesn't consistently show how many entries have been placed for a given week's competition. For a site built on transparency, that's a fair criticism.
Winvia concentration. If you're entering BOTB, Click Competitions, and Rev Comps, you're sending money to the same parent company. That doesn't affect your odds or prize delivery — it's just worth knowing.
Who it suits
BOTB is the natural starting point for anyone new to UK car competitions: the longest history, highest review volume, strongest independent verification, and a genuinely different product in Spot the Ball. Compare it against Rev Comps for random-draw transparency and against Elite Competitions for sheer prize range. If the skill element interests you, there's nothing else like it in the sector.
